First Post/21 Jump Street

Hey everyone. I'm gonna start off this blog with one of the best movies ever made, 21 Jump Street. Before I get started, I would like to let everyone know that I am a comedy nut. Almost every movie I watch is a comedy. So if you notice a new blog post, there's a good chance it's gonna be about a comedy. So what better way to get started than with 21 Jump Street?

First off, the actors. Jonah Hill is one of my favorite actors. Unlike fellow actors Seth Rogen or Vince Vaughn, Hill has a wide variety of characters he can play. We have seen everything from money-loving, drug addicted Donnie Azoff in The Wolf of Wall Street to party-loving, high-ambition teenage loser Seth in Superbad. I think Hill was the perfect actor to portray Schmidt in 21 Jump Street. His ability to play shy, "good-for-nothing" characters made Schmidt one of the best, if not the best, character Hill has ever played.

On the other hand, Channing Tatum was also perfect for his role as Jenko. I think one of the funniest parts of the movie was the differences between Schmidt and Jenko, and Tatum was the perfect actor to show Jenko's careless, bad-ass attitude. For a full list of cast and crew, go here.

The storyline of this movie was one of my favorites also. It was totally entertaining, original, unique, and hilarious. Seeing cops re-live high school is bound to make a great story. Since this movie is a comedy and I love comedies, I’m gonna give you guys my top 5 funny scenes.

5. First Day of School

This scene appears on my top 5 list for a reason. Seeing how times have changed since the undercover cops went to high school was hilarious. One of my favorite lines in the movie is when Jenko says “Let’s park in the handicap spot, it makes us look cool.” Also, seeing Jenko and Schmidt arguing over whether to “one-strap” or “two-strap” their backpacks was great. But the funniest part of this scene has to be when Jenko punches the kid in the face because he is trying hard in school.

4. Car Chase 

This scene was packed to the max with funny lines and scenes. First of all, let’s all just take a second to appreciate Schmidt’s Peter Pan costume and Jenko's chemistry project jacket. This made the scene twice as good. Seeing the two cops running from the drug supplying bikers by stealing pink Volkswagen Beetles and exploding trucks full of chickens is bound to make anyone laugh.

3. Prom 

Seeing Jenko and Schmidt coming out of a limo filled with doves with a group full of nerds wearing all white tuxedos has to be the highlight of the movie. Along with the hilarious fight scenes and the twist ending (not giving anything away), this scene makes my top 5.

2. Drug Scene 

I’d say this is the most talked about scene in the movie. And it has every right to. Jenko and Schmidt find the HFS dealer, but are forced to take the drug in front of him to “prove that they are cool”. After that, a whole string of hilarious scenes follow including the cops trying to make themselves throw up the drugs in the bathroom stalls and trying to talk to teachers under the influence. Watch the movie and you will understand why this scene is #2.

1. First Arrest 

This is my favorite scene by far. This scene takes place after the cops first become cops. It shows Jenko and Schmidt biking around a park on police bikes helping people getting frisbees out of ponds and telling kids to not feed ducks. One of my favorite lines in this movie is when Jenko says “I really thought this job would have more car chases and explosions.” which I think is totally true about cops. But the part that has to top it all is when they are playing with the guns that they are pretty sure aren’t loaded.
